TREK!

OK so i have been dreading this post because i knew it would take me a while but now i regret putting it off because now the memories aren't as....fresh in my mind. but last week i got back from an amazing time on trek! i had such a great and spiritual experience and met some really cool people.

the first day we got to the church at 6 30 for a fireside thing and then loaded the buses. when we got to our destination we loaded our buckets on our handcarts and headed out. my family was THE BEST family of all the families and i loved them. then we got our baby... his name was George William Robinson and i loved him! he was so cute and when the "grim reaper" came around and people started dying i was SO scared that George would die. he was the most loved baby. we called him chunk because he was really heavy and if you weren't pushing the handcart because you were holding the baby it wasn't really a break, your arms still got pretty tired.

the second day we had to women's pull and it was so hard, for the girls and the guys. the girls had to pull the handcarts all by themselves but the guys had to watch....and do nothing......so it was hard on both ends but it made me appreciate my "brothers" and pa more for what they did. then people started dying and we lost our ma and pa. it was really hard to push without them and the whole hour they were gone our family didn't talk. we didn't know what to say, we had just lost our parents and now we were alone.

third day we didn't walk very far but for breakfast we got 6 oz. of flour. to mix with water and drink or eat how we wanted but we couldn't cook it. NASTY! i forced half of it down with out throwing up but i dont know how the pioneers could do that and not die, well i do because they have the lord with them but, wow i have such a better perspective on what they went through now. well for the rest of the day we did activities like shotgun shooting and knife throwing, bow and arrow, hair washing, log sawing, and candle making. it was really fun and chunk had a good time, even though he was one of the only two babies that survived. then we had a devotional and a testimony meeting which were AWESOME! my "brothers" made fun of me though because, yes, i cry, a lot. haha but it had such a great spirit and was just amazing.

the last day we walked into town half way then the buses took us part way then we walked the rest. and we had our real families there waiting for us. and we had a BBQ and went home and i was happy to go home and shower and take a much needed nap but also really sad it was over.

i had a really good experience and i would do it again anytime! i wish everyone could be able to go on trek because it really brought me closer to God and strengthened my testimony.
